IUGG

XXV IUGG General Assembly
Earth on the Edge: Science for a Sustainable Planet
27 June - 8 July 2011
Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre
One Venue, One City, One Conference

IUGG 2011 will be held from 27 June - 8 July 2011 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. The conference will be marked by a scientific program of outstanding plenary speakers, a comprehensive program of state of the art symposia organised by each IUGG association, a compelling keynote speakers program, and the highlight of IUGG conferences, an inter-disciplinary, inter-association program of symposia addressing major scientific issues of global and regional significance and concern.

Recent natural disasters and extreme weather events - the tragedy of the China earthquakes, chaos of unprecedented snow falls in the UK, the catastrophe of cyclones in Burma and the USA, the enormous loss of life after the Asian Tsunami, and the heartbreak of the current bush fires in Australia - serve as a timely reminder of how much we still need to learn about our changing planet. IUGG 2011 will address some of these issues, and it is arguably the most important international multi-disciplinary conference to be able to do so because of the breadth and depth of the expertise of its eight articipating scientific associations.
