Instructions for the Submission of Abstracts
Abstract acceptance notification is on the 27 March 2009. If you have submitted an abstract for the Geomorphology Conference and are the presenting author you will receive an e-mail on this date. If you have not received an e-mail from us by the 31 March please contact the Conference Managers on geomorphology2009@tourhosts.com.au before contacting us please make sure that the e-mail has not been diverted to your junk mail and has not been stopped by any e-mail filters.
General Information
The Organising Committee accepts submissions of abstracts of original contributions on any topic related to the scientific program sessions set out on the program page. If you wish to submit an abstract for consideration, you must follow the instructions outlined below.
Review of Submissions
Abstracts will be reviewed by the Program Committee, and acceptances will be given subject to one author presenting the paper at the Conference. Authors will be expected to register and attend the Conference to present their papers in person.

*If your abstract does not fit into any of the sessions please submit it under other. Authors will be contacted by the Program Committee regarding allocation of their papers once abstract submissions close.
Abstract Submission Procedures/ Instructions
All abstracts must be prepared according to the guidelines provided. Incomplete or incorrect submissions will be returned to the author and must be resubmitted immediately in the correct format to be considered for inclusion in the program.
Abstracts will not be accepted via fax, email or on disk/CD.
- Abstracts will be published in the form submitted by the author. Please read all instructions carefully before preparing your abstract.
- All abstracts are to be submitted online. If you do not receive a confirmation e-mail within 24 hours after submission, please contact the Geomorphology 2009 Conference Managers: geomorphology2009@tourhosts.com.au.
- If you are unable to submit via the website or are experiencing difficulties please contact the Conference Managers: geomorphology2009@tourhosts.com.au.
- Abstracts must be submitted by the presenting author who should complete all fields on the online submission form.
- Please print a copy of the abstract submission form for your records prior to clicking the submit button.
- The presenting author will be required to register for the Conference in order to ensure their abstract(s) are included in the oral/poster program. Deadline for presenting author registration is Wednesday 29 April 2009.
- Authors are able to submit a number of abstracts for oral presentations however only one abstract will be accepted for an oral presentation. Please advise on the abstract submission form which abstract would be your preference for an oral presentation.
- There are no restrictions on poster presentations or co-authorship.
- Authors are required to pay A$20.00 per abstract submitted.
- Authors will be notified of acceptance/rejection on Wednesday 25 March 2009.
- Sessions may not go ahead if there are insufficient abstracts submitted, abstracts submitted in any session that is not going ahead will be re-allocated to a different session by the Program Committee.
Formatting Instructions
The purpose of the abstract is to define the precise subject of the presentation to an audience. It is the responsibility of the presenting author to ensure accuracy of content, spelling and presentation, as abstracts will be published exactly as submitted.
Your abstract should have the following format:
- Abstract must be written in English.
- Abstract must be copied and pasted into the text box within the abstract submission from.
- Abstract title: maximum 15 words, not in all caps, should read as a normal sentence.
- Abstract text: maximum 300 words.
- Topic: please check the list of topics and their description before submitting your abstract.
- Co-authors name & affiliation must be written in the boxes provided in the abstract submission form.
- Abstracts are to be text only. Tables, symbols and diagrams should not be included in the abstract.
- Please note that bold and italics will not show up in the abstract title or body.
Compliance to the specifications is imperative - any abstract that does not comply with these specifications will not be accepted for review.
Oral Presentations: Audiovisual Equipment
Please note that for all oral presentations only Data Projection (PowerPoint) will be available for use by speakers.
Poster Presentations
Posters will be a part of the extensive program and will be displayed within the Exhibition area.
For those preparing posters, it is expected that the presenting author be present at their poster during poster viewing opportunities.
Instructions on the preparation of poster displays will be sent to authors upon notification of the abstract’s acceptance and will be available on the Geomorphology website.
